imail launches new iphone postcard app
14 September 2011

imail, UK Mail’s groundbreaking desktop to doormat delivery solution, has launched a brand new, personalised postcard iPhone app that’s transformed the traditional picture postcard with a modern makeover. Now iPhone users can convert snaps taken on their iPhone, iPad or iPod into customised postcards and mail them to any global address direct from their handsets.  UK-bound postcards are delivered just two days later with international postcards taking four to six days depending on the destination country. As well as being functional and fashionable the app’s also available to directly download from the online App store so that any iPhone owner can enjoy the perks of an ever-ready pocket postcard mailing service. This spells great news for gadgeteers looking to give their Apple more bite by adding to the sheer usefulness that has made the iPhone such a global sensation.
imail’s innovative app integrates with iPhone's slick camera software enabling the user to digitally capture classic moments, places, people, scenes and sights and share them with family, friends and colleagues in a contemporary twist on the traditional postcard. The personalised images are sent in A5 glossy postcard format direct from the iPhone for physical delivery, using an eye-catching, striking and simple-to-use interface. The postcards also come complete with space to write a customised message on the reverse with the content and tone conveyed lying entirely in the hands of the user. Additional features such as a functional U.V. coater ensures a high gloss, polished finish and feel.
The cost of all UK-destined cards is 98p with internationally-bound cards costing a fixed £1.48 regardless of how far afield the location. Meanwhile, a 6pm mailing window provides extended flexibility.
imail, the UK’s leading hybrid mail solution, allows users to produce, print, proof and post letters, direct mail, postcards, flyers and other forms of correspondence directly from a computer, without even having to leave their chair. Expertly combining the ease of e-communications with the impact of physical mail, imail is able to cut mailing costs by some 60%, bolster direct mail response rates, provide increased ease of use and slash carbon emissions by more than 80%. Since its launch in 2008, UK Mail has reported a huge interest in and significant take-up of its imail service.

Commenting on the launch of imail’s new iPhone app, UK Mail’s Chief Executive Guy Buswell says:
“In the same way that Apple’s innovation has raised the bar for personal computing so too has our imail service raised the bar for the mail market. After enabling mailers to send letters and marketing material direct from their PCs, Macs and laptops for UK-wide delivery, extending imail’s postcard functionality to the iPhone represented the next logical step for us.  With the iPhone fast becoming such a huge phenomenon in the UK, we wanted to develop an app that allowed its ever-growing numbers of users to be able to benefit from imail’s smart and sophisticated technology in a fun and functional fashion. imail’s new postcard app fits the bill perfectly.”
